This webinar will describe four approaches to engaging people living with dementia and offer practical strategies for integrating engagement into daily practice and the person-centered care plans at your organization or for your loved one.
Speakers
Dr. Candace Kemp is a Professor of Gerontology at Georgia State University. She teaches and conducts research on aging, family ties, social relationships, and long-term care. Most of her work is funded by the National Institute on Aging and is set in assisted living communities and examines formal and informal care work, partnerships, and networks and seeks to improve quality of life and care for long-term care recipients, including those with dementia, and their care partners. She earned her PhD from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Jennifer Craft Morgan is the Director the Gerontology Institute at Georgia State University. Her research focuses on jobs and careers, attempting to understand how policy, population, workplace and individual level factors shape how work is experienced and how work is organized across care settings. Dr. Morgan is a national expert on recruitment, training and retention of direct care workers. Dr. Morgan has a BA from Franklin and Marshall College, and an MA and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
